If you are in a Sky Broadband network area you can choose
Sky Broadband
Everyday Lite or
Unlimited. If you live outside Sky's broadband network, you can get
Sky
Broadband Connect as an alternative for £17 a month.
All Sky Broadband products come with a Sky Wireless N router, 10 sky.com email addresses, and a
free trial of the award-winning McAfee® Internet Security Suite, to help protect you and your
family from spam, identity theft and other online risks.
Sky Broadband Everyday Lite
Sky
Broadband Everyday Lite is perfect for shopping online or browsing your favourite sites daily,
with a 2GB monthly usage allowance.
Sky Broadband Unlimited
Sky Broadband Unlimited lets your whole family download music, movies and
sports clips with totally unlimited usage.
Sky Broadband Connect
Sky
Broadband Connect is for customers outside Sky's broadband network. It offers a 40GB monthly
usage allowance.
What do I get with Sky Broadband?
All Sky Broadband products come with a Sky Wireless N router, 10 email addresses, a free
trial of McAfee Internet Security Suite, a digital photo service and 24/7 technical
support.
Is there a minimum contract length?
You need to stay with your chosen Sky Broadband product for a minimum of 12 months. There is
also a 12 month minimum term for Sky Talk services.
What is the maximum broadband speed my phone line can support?
Before you order Sky Broadband we will check your phone number to see if you are in
a Sky Broadband network area and tell you the approximate download speed your line can support.
Once your Sky Broadband has been activated, to optimise the performance of your line, we will
start your Sky Broadband at a low speed on the first day. Over the first ten days we will try to
increase your speeds and will then set your line to provide the best speeds supported with a
reliable connection. During these first ten days you may notice some variations in speed and your
connection may be intermittent at times – this is normal.
For Sky Broadband, sign in to
My Sky
and check the Broadband Service Details section for the current status of testing on your line, and
the maximum download and upload speeds your Sky Broadband is set to after testing.
What speed is my Sky Broadband connection?
You can check the access line speed of your Sky Broadband connection by following
this process:
1. Open a web browser window (e.g. Internet Explorer), enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar,
and press
Return.
2. In the log-in box, enter the username
admin and the password
sky then click
OK.
3. A results window will appear - the throughput speed is recorded within the Modem section
under 'Downstream Connection Speed' and ‘Upstream Connection Speed’.

Note that the Connection speeds refer to the download and upload speeds that are being achieved
between your router and Sky’s Broadband equipment in the local telephone exchange. These are not
the same as ‘throughput’ or experienced speeds, which will be slower than the connection speed due
to other factors that affect speeds.

What do I need to order Sky Talk?
You need Sky Line Rental to use Sky Talk and Sky Broadband.

When making calls, when is it ‘Daytime’, ‘Evening’ and ‘Weekend’?
For calls to UK mobiles, 0845 and most 0870 numbers:
Daytime calls are those made between 7am and 7pm, 7 days a week. Evening calls are those made
before 7am and after 7pm, 7 days a week.
For calls to all other numbers:
Daytime calls are those made between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Friday
Evening calls are those made before 7am and after 7pm, Monday to Friday
Weekend calls are those made between midnight Friday and midnight Sunday
How long can I talk before I’m charged?
You can make incluisiove calls of up to an hour in length. After that 5.90p per minute rates
will apply to UK landline calls and Sky Talk standard international rates will apply to unlimited
international calls. Or you can hang up and redial as often as you like.
What are the 20 popular destinations included in the Sky Talk Unlimited package?
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Rep, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary,
Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and USA.
Also included are calls to mobiles in Canada and USA.
How much does it cost to install a new phone line?
You can now order a new line from Sky in one simple online order. We will inform you of the
installation charge when you place your Sky Talk order. If an engineer appointment is required to
install or activate your new phone line and you miss or rearrange your appointment without
contacting us before 3.30pm on the working day before the scheduled appointment, or you fail
to make the necessary arrangements for the appointment to take place, you will lose your install
fee and we may charge you our full costs for a rearranged appointment.
Will I have to change my telephone number?
If you're moving to Sky Talk from BT or most other line rental providers, you can keep the
phone number you already have, so you won't have to tell everyone your new contact details. If
you're moving from an unbundled provider or from cable then we can request to keep your number,
although we cannot guarantee that we'll be able to do this.
Will Sky Talk affect my internet charges?
If you pay a fixed monthly rate, you will continue to pay your Internet Service Provider. If
you use dial-up, the charges will appear on your Sky bill.
Important information for customers with security and social alarm systems
Some remotely monitored security alarm, social alarm and Telecare services are not compatible
with the Sky Voice and Broadband network. If you have one of these services it is your
responsibility to ensure it is compatible. If you have one of these services that uses your phone
line, you should contact us straightaway on 08442 410 046 to ensure your service is not
affected.
