Setting up your broadband and wireless kit is easy. There’s no need for an engineer to visit, we’ll simply send you everything you need through the post.
Your broadband should be active just two weeks after your order has been confirmed.

Your line could be activated up to midnight on your activation date, so it’s advisable to wait until the day after to try to connect to the internet.
Once your broadband is active:
- Plug your Sky Hub into your master phone socket using the microfilter provided.
- Follow the simple step-by-step instructions in the set-up guide that came with your Sky Hub.
- There’s no need to remember passwords. Simple and secure WiFi Protected Setup (WPS) makes it even easier for you to connect with any WPS enabled device. Just find your network and push the button on your router to connect.
Wireless adapter
If your computer doesn’t support wireless technology, you can purchase a wireless adapter with your Sky Broadband. The adapter is easy to use and simply plugs into your computer, allowing you to access the internet through your Sky Hub.
Sky phone line
Sky phone line activation
When you order your Sky phone line, you’ll be given an approximate activation date, or asked to choose a set-up date. When you place your order, we’ll confirm if an engineer will need to visit your home to install a new line, or if we can turn on/switch the phone line remotely.
You may not need an engineer if there's already an inactive phone line and socket at your address, or you're transferring your phone service from an unbundled provider.
Once you’ve completed your order, we’ll send confirmation of your activation date and next steps.
On Demand
Setting up On Demand
To unlock On Demand, you'll need a Sky TV package and a compatible black Sky or Sky HD box connected to a broadband router (from any broadband provider). Please see our two set-up options below:
- Wired self set-up
It's easy to connect your Sky+ box to your broadband router yourself. All you’ll need is an Ethernet cable. - Wireless self set-up
If you’d prefer not to have a wire running from your Sky+ box to your broadband router, you can connect them wirelessly. Simply add a Wireless Connector before you checkout.

How to set up your Wireless Connector
If you’d like to connect your broadband router to your Sky+ box wirelessly and unlock all the features of On Demand, you can purchase a Wireless Connector. Perfect if your Sky+ box and Sky router are in different rooms.
How to set up your Wireless Connector:
- Check you have everything you need: your Wireless Connector, Ethernet cable and power adaptor, and that your broadband is working.
- Plug your Wireless Connector into the mains power and make sure your Ethernet cable is connected to the back of your Sky+ box.
- Follow the set-up instructions in the handy guide that comes with your Connector.
- Press ‘TV Guide’ on your Sky remote, followed by the red button to enter the On Demand menu and get started.

Do I need a MAC code?
You'll need to give us a Migration Authorisation Code (MAC) from your current provider within the next six weeks before we can activate Sky Broadband.
Once you've got this, call us on 08442 410 583 and we'll take care of everything else.
If you do not provide us with your MAC within the next six weeks, your order will be cancelled and you may be charged a set-up fee for your next Sky Broadband order. -
How long will it take for my line to go active?
Once you have ordered Sky Broadband it will normally take up to 15 days for your broadband to go active.

How will I know my activation date?
We'll contact you shortly after your order is complete to confirm your activation date. A few days before you're due to go active, we'll send you your wireless router with simple step-by-step instructions for getting set up with Sky Broadband.

What if my computer can't use wireless technology?
If your computer doesn’t support wireless technology, you can purchase a wireless adapter to plug into your computer, allowing you to access the internet through your Sky Hub.

What if I can't connect to the internet?
Check your broadband activation date to make sure your broadband is active. If your activation date has passed, visit our help and support page.
