      What broadband speeds do I need?

      The need for speed depends on the number of people and devices in your household, and your usage activity. For browsing the web, checking emails, and uploading the odd photo to Facebook, you don't necessarily need a superfast Fibre connection. However, you will benefit from Sky Fibre if you regularly use your broadband at the same time as other people in your home, view On Demand HD content, download large files on a regular basis, or play console video games online. With Sky Fibre Unlimited, you can download an album in less than 11 seconds or start viewing a movie On Demand in less than one minute. These times are estimated averages and are not a prediction of actual speed. Household speeds vary depending on factors including line quality and distance from the exchange.       What about downloading HD shows?

      If you're downloading multiple high definition (HD) video streams simultaneously, rather than through your Sky box, which uses satellite to broadcast HD, you may need a faster connection. Depending on how many HD shows you download, Sky Fibre Unlimited may best suit your needs as it has totally unlimited usage.

      What is Sky Fibre Broadband?

      Sky Fibre Broadband uses fibre optic technology to provide superfast speeds to homes – up to 38Mbs with Sky Fibre and Sky Fibre Unlimited and up to 76Mbs with Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro.

      Who can get Sky Fibre Broadband?

      The Openreach fibre optic broadband network is currently available to approximately 80% of homes in the UK, and is growing every month

      Do I need a phone line to get Sky Fibre Broadband?

      Yes, you'll need a residential phone line with Sky Talk calls and Line Rental to get Sky Fibre or Sky Fibre Unlimited.

      Do Sky Fibre and Sky Fibre Unlimited have usage policies?

      Sky Fibre Unlimited is a residential service that offers totally unlimited usage - there is no fair usage policy and no traffic management is applied to this service

      Sky Fibre has a usage limit of 25 Gigabytes (GB) a month. You can use the limit as you wish, be it simply surfing the web or streaming the latest episode of your favourite programme from Sky on demand.

      Will On Demand work with Sky Fibre Unlimited?

      On Demand is great with Fibre Unlimited as it gives superfast speeds to download your favourite shows quickly. It's also totally unlimited so you can download as much as you like. Just connect your Sky+HD box, which now come with built in Wi-Fi capability, to your router and then follow the on-screen instructions.

      If you don't have a new Sky+ box, connect to On Demand using an Ethernet cable or our On Demand Connector and then follow the on-screen instructions.
