  • You need a BT line to use Sky Broadband, but you can have your call charges with another company on a BT line. We check this when you order. If you are moving from a different telephone company or have recently moved to a new house, you need to be the registered owner of that telephone line. We suggest you wait 24 hours after your telephone line has been activated before signing up for Sky Broadband. You need to wait 5 working days once the line has gone active to book Sky Broadband as it takes 5 days to be registered on BT's system.

  • Before you join Sky Broadband, contact your existing internet provider and ask them for advice on the best way to move your broadband account without losing service. They may give you a MAC (this is a Migration Authorisation Code to give to your new broadband provider to ensure you can switch) that you can use to switch to Sky. A MAC will help to migrate your broadband service seamlessly from most current providers in a few simple steps, ensuring minimum downtime and maximum service.

In some cases you may not be able to use a MAC to switch to Sky from your current ISP - in that case you will need to cancel your current broadband service before you can order Sky Broadband.
