Preparing for your Sky installation
Installing your Sky equipment is a quick and generally fuss-free procedure.
There are just a few things to bear in mind before the engineer calls round.
– You must have a free electrical socket near your TV.
– As a precaution, you might want to move furniture and ornaments away from the area where the Sky box will go.
– Ensure that working plug-in telephone sockets which can accept incoming and outgoing calls are within 10 metres (30 feet) of each Set top box to be installed.
– Ensure that the person that will be present on day of install is over 18 and able to decide where the dish and cable will be installed.
– All coaxial cabling will be run externally, and on all installs, holes will be drilled for cable access.
– Any internal cable will be tacked to the skirting board.
– Sky does not install onto Communal Dishes or walls with cladding.
– For blocks of flats, listed buildings or conservation areas, planning permission may be necessary and this should be obtained prior to the visit.
– Engineers are not insured to enter the loft or crawl underneath floorboards.
– Engineers will not lift carpeting to lay cable.
– The engineer will need to park outside your home and bring ladders and equipment up to the house. Any help you can offer to ensure that the engineer can park within a reasonable distance of the property will help us to complete the work first time, on the day.
– When a Sky+ installation booking is made, any existing cable may need to be replaced or a 2nd feed from the dish added to allow the installation to be completed.
