Changing your Sky subscription with Sky Active

It's easy to upgrade your Sky subscription or equipment using your Sky remote control, and you can also order Sky Broadband and Talk, or choose additional services such as Sky Protect.

Upgrade directly from the channel you want to watch

If you tune to a channel that is not part of your Sky package, you'll see a message giving you a number to call if you wish to upgrade and view that channel. Now, might see a message telling you that you can upgrade simply by pressing the red button.

You don't have to call Sky at all - your Sky box will identify the channel you want to watch and you'll see details of the pack in which this channel is included on your TV screen. Just follow the instructions to add this pack or channel to your Sky subscription.

Upgrade from the Sky Active menu

1. Press interactive on your Sky remote control.
2. When the menu appears press 1 or highlight Sky Active and press select.
3. On the Sky Active homepage, you may see upgrade links. If you're watching Sky+, for example, the link might say "Upgrade to Sky+HD."ighlight Sky Products using the left/right arrows and press select. Alternatively, highlight Sky Products and press select.
4. On the Sky Products menu, you can choose "Upgrade my box" to purchase Sky+, Sky+HD and Sky Multiroom, and choose products such as "Broadband & Phone." You'll also see "Upgrade my viewing" to order a new channels pack and services such as "Sky Protect."
5. Highlight your selection using the arrow buttons on your Sky remote control, then press select.
6. Follow the on-screen instructions. You may need your viewing card PIN and bank or credit card details to complete your order.
You can upgrade by pressing the red button when watching Sky News, Sky Sports, or Sky One. Some other programmes may also carry promotional messages inviting you to access this service.

  1. When will I be able to watch my new channel(s)?
    The signal to your viewing card can take between 10 and 24 hours to be received, so your new channels may not be available immediately. After changing your package you'll be unable to remove items for 30 days, but if your bill is more than normal because of the changes you've made, you can pay these extra charges on Sky Active as well. Before amending or upgrading your viewing package, please ensure that your viewing card is inserted in the correct slot in your Sky Box, with the arrow pointing forwards and the gold chip facing downwards.
  2. What if I want to make other changes to my Sky subscription?
