VAT changes planned for January 2010
Earlier this year, we reduced the VAT following the government’s VAT cut. As the government has announced it will increase VAT back to the previous rate of 17.5%, from 1st January 2010, your monthly subscription for Sky TV, HD Pack and Multiroom and any stand-alone premium channels will increase slightly from this date onwards.
How is Sky implementing the changes?
To keep things simple, we’ll continue to apply rounded pricing. Therefore, from the 1st January 2010, Sky TV packages are increasing by 50p (50c) unless you take a package which has both the Sky Sports and Sky Movies Packs in which case the increase is £1 (€1 or €1.50 if a customer has 3 or more premium channels). The HD Pack and Multiroom subscription pricing is increasing by 25p (25c) back to £10 (€15) a month. As you pay for your subscriptions in advance you will see the changes in your December bill onwards.
