David and Goliath: Haye v Valuev

David and Goliath: Haye v Valuev

Saturday 7 November

Sky Box Office, 9pm

David Haye's attempt to become the first British heavyweight champion of the world since Lennox Lewis is the unmissable sporting event of the weekend and it's live and exclusive to Sky.

You don't normally get little v large contests in boxing, but then you don't normally get 7ft 2 monsters like Nikolai Valuev (50-1). The massive Russian weighs in at over 24 stone and is the current WBA world champion, while David Haye (22-1) is giving up 9 inches and 7 stone.

Valuev is obviously hard to beat because of his size and reach, plus he is vastly more experienced, but the South London slugger, Haye, will have the advantage of speed and mobility, making it a fascinating match of differing strengths. Valuev, 'The Beast From The East', has beaten John Ruiz (twice) and most recently, Evander Holyfield, whereas Haye is a virtual novice in this division.

Haye, had however, proved himself the best Cruiserweight in the world and remains supremely confident. Indeed, Valuev's split decision win over Holyfield was hardly impressive, given that 'The Real Deal' was 47 and many observers had the veteran winning.

The only common opponent they have faced is Monte 'Two Gunz' Barrett. Valuev knocked Barrett down four times before Barrett's corner threw in the towel in the 11th round, while Haye decked him five times en route to a 5th round TKO. It was Haye's one and only heavyweight bout so far and he was knocked down, once, by Barrett. He wasn't hurt but if he allows himself to be caught like that by Valuev, he may not get up again in a hurry.

So, all in all, it's an unpredictable, fascinating world heavyweight title fight – just what boxing needs. Catch all the action live on Sky Box Office.
