Take control of your TV with the new Sky+ app on Android

We’ve added some amazing new features to the Sky+ app for Android that will change the way you enjoy your Sky TV.

With the Sky+ app, you’ll now be able to control what you’re watching on TV using an Android tablet or mobile phone. From pausing or rewinding live TV, changing channel, managing your Planner and much more, you can take charge of your Sky+HD box with just a tap or swipe of your fingers.

Plus we’ve made all the familiar features you love even simpler to use.

It’s a fun, convenient and easy way to make the most of Sky+.

Control TV with your touchscreen

Whether you're using a smartphone or a tablet, let the new Sky+ app become your TV’s virtual remote control. While you’re enjoying your Sky TV, just tap the remote control icon and you'll put the power in your fingertips.

Tap or swipe the interface to pause, rewind or fast forward the action. If you fancy watching something else just swipe up or down to change channel, or tap your desired channel’s logo. It's that simple.

Manage your Planner

There's a new feature that's particularly stunning on Android tablets. You'll be able to see and control all the recordings on your Planner, allowing you to enjoy your TV viewing totally uninterrupted. Don't worry – it works brilliantly on Android mobile phones too.

You’ll see details of all your recordings right there on your Android device's screen. Simply swipe to scroll through and find something you fancy. When you’re ready to view, just tap Watch icon. The show will begin playing on your TV.

You can also check for upcoming reminders or recordings, and with a tap, even delete anything you’d no longer like to keep.

Your perfect viewing companion

The Sky+ app is a brilliant way to discover something new. Use it to search your TV Guide or check for hourly recommendations from the seven-day TV Guide.

Also, with Highlights, we’ll suggest shows that you may like, and give you a convenient choice of times to watch or record them.

Plus we’ve made the Sky+ app even easier to use for all the functions you’re familiar with, including adding reminders.

What do I need to get started?

To start using these great new features, you’ll need:

1. A compatible Sky+HD box with the new Sky Guide.

2. A connection between your Sky+HD box and your broadband network, wired or wireless .

3. An Android tablet or smartphone with the Sky+ app installed and connected to the same broadband network. It'll work on any Android device that has OS 2.2 or later.

There's always Remote Record

The Sky+ app still includes its innovative recording features. Send a Remote Record request to your Sky+ box when you're stuck on a train instead of relaxing at home with Game of Thrones, for instance. And you can record single episodes or entire series by simply tapping the screen.

All you need is a 3G, 4G or WiFi connection and you'll never need miss TV you love.

Please note that if you have the app installed on your mobile already and you're running Android OS version 2.1 or below, you won't receive an update.
