Once upon a time, Las Vegas was the perfect place for ranchers to raise cattle. Then along came
casinos – and the Mob. As you can imagine, the transformation from grazing land to gangsters’
paradise wasn’t exactly smooth.
Sky Atlantic’s gripping new drama
Vegas is all about this cowboys vs Cosa Nostra conflict. Set in the early 1960s, it's
loaded with shotguns and Stetsons, wise guys and wise cracks, horse riders and high rollers. Plus
its cast is top-class.
Hollywood legend Dennis Quaid (Innerspace,
Soul Surfer) is Sheriff Ralph Lamb, a World War II veteran turned rancher. He’s forced by
a mysterious murder to become the city’s top lawman. But just as he’s taking the reins, aspiring
mobster Vincent Savino (Michael Chiklis,
The Shield, Fantastic Four) arrives from Chicago to make his mark at one of the city’s
biggest casinos.
They're joined by Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix) as assistant district attorney Katherine O’Connell, who’s always on hand to
keep Lamb on his toes. The two definitely have a past together, but what does their future
hold?
Co-written by Nicholas Pileggi (Good Fellas,
Casino) and rich with period imagery and costume, it’s sure to be popular with fans of
Westerns, gangster movies and 1960s glamour alike.
