Our top-class team of developers have created some of the most innovative apps on the market. Whether they’re winning awards with Sky Go or turning your iPhone into a remote control with the Sky+ app, they’re always looking for original ways to help you get even more from your Sky.

 

And while there’s plenty written about Sky Go, Sky+ and Sky Sports for iPad, there’s an incredible range of equally impressive apps waiting for you to download.

 

Here’s just a sample of all the great apps you should be sure not to miss out on.

The recently launched Sky Arts app will help you leave a heritage breadcrumb trail right through your neck of the woods. It alerts you whenever you’re near a culturally significant place.

 

As you pass by, you’ll get a virtual collector’s card featuring fascinating facts, plus a short video clip from a related Sky Arts show. There are thousands to discover, with plenty of sites across the UK and Ireland.

 

For instance, it’s exciting to find out you’re near Parliament Hill Lido as swum by Anne Hathaway in the movie One Day or that your morning commute takes you past the place where Eric Clapton recorded his influential Blues Breakers … album.  

 

And you’re sure to be inspired when you discover the amazing musicians, comedians, artists, dancers, writers and actors who’ve shared your surroundings to create some of their best loved work.

For Sky Movies customers with a passion for celluloid, there’s the Sky Movies app. It’ll help you find a great movie to watch on Sky Movies, or to rent from Sky Store.

 

If you can’t make up your mind, try one of our recommendations, or be decisive and come up with your own shortlist. The app will even let you know what’s on at the cinema and find one near you.

 

It goes behind the scenes with plot synopses, airing times, reviews, director and cast information. Plus, if you have Sky Go, it’ll even let you watch movies on your iPhone or iPad. All you’ll have to worry about is the popcorn.

Then you’re ready for free internet access to thousands of WiFi Hotspots from The Cloud in some of the most visited places on the high street.

 

Whether it’s Wetherspoon or Wagamama, Pret or Pizza Express, Greggs, Ted Baker or Yates’s, you’l l be broadband-connected with a tap of your smartphone’s screen. Plus there’s a handy map that’ll show you exactly where to find your nearest free hotspots too.

Download Sky Pro Cycling free from the App Store to get news about all the riders and the races, the technology that makes them great, as well as maps, blogs and photo galleries. And for just £2.99, you can unlock its personal training functions to monitor your very own cycling performance.

Get hold of the headlines with this handy app. You’ll get all the breaking stories straight from the Sky News newsroom, complete with video clips, in-depth analysis, interactive image galleries and blog entries.

 

You’ll also get the hottest tech and showbiz news as well as weather bulletins. You can even make the news yourself. Send the Sky Newsroom a breaking news story with the Your Report feature to let the world know what’s happening around you.

 

The Sky News app is available for iPod and iPad, as well as Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone and Nokia handsets.
