Sky Arts’ hugely popular music show
From the Basement is back in January. As always, it’ll feature the compelling
performances by ground-breaking acts that have made it a hit with Sky Arts viewers.
You'll feel like you're almost onstage with the musicians this series, as it’ll be available to
enjoy on Sky 3D as well as Sky Arts if you have Sky World. And the line-up looks amazing.
It kicks off with The Shins, who’ll play a selection of songs from their latest album,
Port of Morrow. Aimee Mann will also appear, as will former Fleet Foxes drummer Josh Tillman
with his new band, Father John Misty.
Other highlights will include Canadian singer songwriter Feist, pop sensations Foster the People
and New York dance veteran Moby. Plus, watch for a blistering set from the Red Hot Chili Peppers,
giving a taste of their highly anticipated tenth studio album,
I’m With You.
There’s also Brit and Ivor Novello-winning Scissor Sisters to look forward to, with new material
from their fourth studio album,
Magic Hour.
You’ll also be treated to a glimpse of tomorrow’s most talked-about acts. Enigmatic poet-singer
Willis Earl Beal, Texas rockers Shearwater and indie sensations Delta Spirit will all take centre
stage. Plus there’s mind-blowing bass player-performer Thundercat as well as Feist’s
multi-instrumentalist band member Charles Spearin.
From the Basement is the brainchild of Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich. It has no host or
audience, just undistracted and intimate live sets recorded on Hollywood’s legendary Charlie
Chaplin stage.
It’s part of Sky Arts’ amazing showcase of music, including
The Ronnie Wood Show,
The Jo Whiley Music Show,
The Isle of Wight Festival and
Songbook.
Look out for
From the Basement from 12 January at 10pm on Sky Arts 1 HD.
