The internet is one of the greatest inventions of our lifetime and with it comes the
responsibility for all parents and guardians to ensure use by children and young adults is
safe.
childnet is a non-profit organisation that aims to help make the internet a great and safe place
for children and young adults aged between 7 and 18.
childnet runs Safer Internet Day on 5 February 2013 helping spread the word across the world and
encourage everyone online to 'Connect with Respect'.
You can sign up and find out more about how your family can use the internet, at home and on the
move, in a safe and responsible manner. From privacy settings, to use of social media, to
avoiding adult content, Safer Internet Day is a great opportunity to learn more and spread the
word.
Your school, whether primary or secondary, can also download lesson plans, classroom activities
and ensure that your child's friends and classmates connect with respect too.
For more information, go to the
Safer Internet Day website.
We take internet safety very seriously so we work closely with stakeholders, industry,
Government and non-Government organisations to ensure you have the knowledge and tools to make
using the internet as safe as possible. Go to
Sky Security Centre to find out more.
