Here’s a chance to get your imagination going with some of the biggest names in performance, art
and design, with an enthralling new Sky Arts: Ignition Series video installation that’s part of the
UK festival of contemporary art, Liverpool Biennial.
Sky Arts Ignition: Doug Aitken – The Source sees American multimedia artist Doug Aitken
interview world-famous, acclaimed cultural figures like actor Tilda Swinton, White Stripes legend
Jack White, singer-songwriter Beck, architect David Adjaye, artist Thomas Demand, photographer
Steven Shore and many more.
In a series of fascinating, intimate and informal one-to-one chats, they discuss how they find
and develop their ground-breaking creative ideas. The talks are edited into a collection of
four-minute mini movies that make up the video installation.
It’s free to view at Tate Liverpool. Find out what it’s like from the trailer on the
Sky Arts website.
Sky Arts Ignition Series is our new funding initiative that works directly with leading arts
organisations to support emerging, innovative artists across the UK and Ireland. It includes the
Sky Arts Ignition: Futures Fund, a bursary for young artists where they can win up to £30,000 as
well as mentoring to produce a new work of art or performance. It’s now open and you can find out
more from the
Sky Arts Ignition website.
Sky Arts Ignition: Doug Aitken – The Source is Doug Aitken’s first public installation in
the UK. See it for free at Tate Liverpool until 13 January 2013.
