It’s loads of fun to share quips and comments with your friends on social media networks when
you’re watching TV. In fact, it’s becoming the normal way to watch TV for an increasing number of
us in the UK.
That’s why we’ll soon be adding these functions to our Sky apps. It’s all thanks to a fantastic
deal we’ve just signed with an exciting new UK-based technology company called zeebox. They make a
clever app that turns your smartphone or tablet computer into a perfect social media TV
companion.
Zeebox’s technology, also available for your laptop via the web, makes it super simple for you
to tweet about shows or follow Facebook comment streams with your friends while you’re watching TV.
It also makes it easy for you to buy featured music or products, as well as find info like cast
lists and plot synopses.
However, the technology will also add something rather special to your Sky+ app. You’ll soon be
able to use it like a remote control for your Sky+ box. That means selecting shows from the TV
listings, as well as pausing, rewinding or fast-forwarding them, all with your mobile
device.
You’ll even have access to your planner through the Sky+ app, so it will be even easier to
manage your recordings, wherever you are. And, of course, you’ll be able to join the social media
conversations easily, all from a single app.
Watch out for more news about these developments later this year.
