Sky Go for Android is nearly here. The new app will be available from Android Market by the end
of February for a selection of HTC and Samsung phones.
Depending on your TV subscription package, you’ll be able to watch all five Sky Sports channels,
ESPN, Sky News and 11 Sky Movies channels on your Android phone.
Plus, we’re adding loads of entertainment channels to Sky Go. From today, iPhone and iPad users
can enjoy Sky Atlantic. By the end of February, Sky Go for both Android and Apple devices will
include Sky Atlantic, Sky 1, Sky Living and Sky Arts 1. And for you on-the-go petrol-heads, we’ll
be adding our brand new Formula 1 channel, Sky Sports F1, in March.
In addition, we’re planning to launch Sky Movies on demand for the Android app later this
year.
Each manufacturer tweaks the Android software slightly for their smartphones. That means we’ve
tested the app thoroughly to make sure it works perfectly on every model. So, for launch, we’ve
chosen the most popular Android-based handsets.
The list comprises Desire, Desire S, Desire HD and Incredible S smartphones from HTC, and the
Galaxy S from Samsung.
Do watch this space if you use another type of Android device, including tablets, as we develop
our products to keep up with the market.
Holly Knill, head of Sky Go, summed it up best: “We know how much Android users have been
looking forward to the launch of Sky Go on Android smartphones, and we’ve done everything we can to
make sure that our bespoke design is worth waiting for.”
