Box Upgrade FAQs

  • How do I upgrade my box(es)?

    • To upgrade your current box, sign in to find out which boxes are available to you, choose the box you would like to upgrade to and then go to our secure checkout to complete your order.


  • Can I choose a time slot for engineer set-up?

    • When you are booking your installation you will be able to choose from a list of available dates. We will do our best to install Sky on the date you select and will confirm the date by email once your order has been processed.

      If available, you can request a morning or afternoon installation time when you place your order, either between 8am and 1pm, or between 12pm and 5pm otherwise our 'all-day call' policy applies. Our engineer will arrive on site during the time period requested but the installation may continue past that. You don't need to call us to confirm your appointment unless you need to rearrange it or we have your details listed incorrectly.

  • Can I watch programmes in high definition on a Sky+ box or a new SkyHD box?

    • If you have an HD-ready TV and the latest black Sky+ box or the new SkyHD box you are able to watch free-to-air HD channels.

      To access Sky's range of HD programming, you will need a SkyHD box, a black Sky+ or a Sky+HD box together with an HD Pack subscription. The channels you receive with the HD Pack depend on your Sky TV bundle.

  • Can I watch programmes TV on demand on any Sky boxes?

    • Our most up-to-date Sky+, Sky+HD and Sky+HD 2TB boxes have built in Wi-Fi capability, so  they're easy to connect to your broadband router, making access to TV on demand simple.

      The services you receive come at no extra monthly cost and depend on your Sky TV bundle.

  • Can I get a replacement box rather than an upgrade?

    • If there is a fault with your Sky box which you are not responsible for we can replace it with the same box. However if the fault does not lie with Sky you will need to order and pay for a replacement.

6 months free Broadband Unlimited offer: Sky Broadband Unlimited or Sky Connect Unlimited free for six months when you join with Sky Talk and line rental (from €30 for Broadband Unlimited / €40 for Connect Unlimited pm). Free On Demand Connector: Self-set-up required. Offer available to customers who haven’t downloaded On Demand content previously. Requires compatible black Sky+ box, broadband connection (minimum recommended speed 2Mbps). Free connector for eligible customers only. One connector per customer subject to availability. The model of On Demand Connector you receive will vary depending on the model of your Sky+HD box. Some models must be connected to a mains supply.

€10 HD Offer: HD package for €10 per month for 24 months. The then current price applies after the offer period. Offer expires if you fail to fulfil any conditions of your HD contract and then standard pricing applies.

Introduce a Friend offer: Only available by calling the specified number and not via any other means, e.g. through a retail outlet. An existing Sky TV subscriber in ROI must follow the instructions in this advert to get a brand new customer (who is not a member of their household) to subscribe to Sky TV. The €75 cheque will be sent within 45 days of you submitting your claim. One cheque per new customer household. The existing customer must remain an active subscriber to qualify. Sky boxes and set-up

Sky+HD box: Existing Sky+ box households are not eligible for a discounted box unless taking the HD Pack. Existing customers must agree to new 12 month minimum term for Sky TV. One free/discounted box per household. Sky+HD box up to €149 if you are not eligible for discounted price (Sky TV subscription required). A Sky+HD box can store an average of 60 hours of HD or 185 hours of standard definition programmes. HD ready TV required. Standard set-up for customers is €30 for a Sky+HD box taken with the HD Pack. Non-standard set-up may cost extra.

Sky+ box: Existing Sky+ box households are not eligible for a discounted box. Existing customers must agree to new 12 month minimum term for Sky TV. One free/discounted box per household. Sky+ box up to €149 if you are not eligible for discounted price (Sky TV subscription required). You will receive a Sky+HD box which has all the features of Sky+ and can store an average of 185 hours of standard definition programmes. To view free-to-air HD content you need an HD ready TV. To view Sky HD content you will also need the HD Pack (€15 a month). Standard set-up for existing customers is €60. Non-standard set-up may cost extra.


Sky+HD 2TB box: €49 for existing Sky TV customers taking their first HD package (€15pm) or existing Sky+HD customers adding Sky Multiroom (€15pm per box). Existing Sky+HD customers are entitled to one €149 box, additional 2TB boxes €249. €249 for any existing customer who received a discounted 1TB box. New customers joining Sky TV with the HD Pack are entitled to one €149 box. Any additional 2TB boxes thereafter or when taking without the HD Pack are €249. Standard set-up £30 for new customers and €60 for existing Sky TV customers. Non-standard set-up may cost extra. Sky+HD 2TB box provides 1.5TB of personal storage and 0.5TB of storage for On Demand Showcase content.

Sky HD Multiroom Box: [Only available with multiroom subscriptions]. Sky HD Multiroom Box is the SkyHD standard Digibox (No PVR functionality) which along with a Sky TV and Sky Multiroom subscription (€15 extra a month) gives your Sky TV subscription in another room. First box free for existing customers when taken with a new Sky Multiroom subscription and paying for set-up. Limited to one free box per household (and not available to customers who have already received a free standard box) otherwise €69. Replacement boxes are €99. Set-up is €100 for existing customers. Non-standard set-up may cost extra.
