Remote Record FAQs

  • Sky's Remote Record service allows you to record your favourite programmes from wherever you are, using Sky.com or our smartphone Apps.

    • Can I send recording requests while I'm travelling abroad?

      You can send recording requests from anywhere you can send texts or access the internet, but please remember that your Sky box can receive recording requests and record programmes while in standby mode, but not when it is turned off at the mains, or there is no power for another reason. If you turn off all your electrical appliances when you go away for a while, this will prevent your Sky box from processing Remote Record requests.

    • Can I Remote Record while someone watches/records programmes?

      Only two programmes can be received at once, so you can record two programmes at once or watch one and record another. If someone else is watching Sky and you attempt to Remote Record, a warning appears on the TV saying that a second recording is about to start. The person watching TV can choose to delete one of the recordings. If they don’t respond, Sky+ will change from the channel they are viewing to the channel you wish to record, allowing both recordings to be made.

    • How does the remote recording appear in my Sky+ Planner?

      Remote recordings look just like standard recordings in the planner.

    • Where can I use Remote Record?

      Remote Record is available to customers in the UK and Republic of Ireland. If you're travelling or planning to travel outside the UK/Republic of Ireland (while you still have an active Sky subscription in the UK!), you can still use Remote Record, so your programmes are waiting for you when you get back.

       

      Remote Record requests cannot be processed when your Sky box is switched off

      Please remember that your Sky box can receive recording requests and record programmes while in standby mode, but not when it is turned off at the mains, or there is no power for another reason.

    • How can I cancel my Remote Record requests?

      If you want to cancel a specific request please follow the instructions below.

      Cancel a single recording request

      Once a recording request has been confirmed you have to delete the recording from your Sky box, using your Sky remote control. Press tv guide followed by the green button to access your Personal Planner, then find and delete the recording from the list. You cannot cancel a confirmed recording using your mobile or the Sky.com website.
