Find your remote control code

  • Watch our video on finding your code and programming your remote

When you get a new TV or replace the batteries in your Sky remote control, you may find that the Sky remote control doesn’t work with the TV (when you try to increase the volume or put your TV on standby, for example). You can fix this in two simple steps:

    1) Find your remote control code. There are two ways to find your remote control code.

    • Use our online lookup tool to find your remote code
    • Access Sky Active on your TV using your Sky remote

    2) Then you have to program your remote control.

Scroll down for the instructions to these two easy steps.

Find your remote code using Sky Active

    Look up on TV

    1. To access the Sky Active service on you TV, press interactive on your Sky remote control and select Sky Active from the menu that appears.
    2. Select Help & Support from the next menu, then Program your remote from the Help options.
    3. You will see a message saying "The service will walk you through how to set up your Sky Remote..."
    4. Select the manufacturer and model of your TV set from the menu that appears. You may need to scroll through a number of options.
    5. Once you've done this, your four-digit code will be displayed on your TV screen.

  • 2) Program your remote

    When you have your code:

    1. Cover the end of your Sky remote control and press the tv button.
    2. Remove your hand, then hold select and the red button together until the light at the top of your remote blinks twice.
    3. Enter your four-digit setup code and press select.
    4. Cover the end of your Sky remote control and press sky.

If this works, test the remote by changing your TV volume. Please remember that some TV functions may not be supported by your Sky remote, but the basic standby and volume functions should work once you've put your code in.
