Update 19 March 2012
We know many of you care
passionately about the scheduling of your favourite shows, especially Glee. As such, we took steps
in January to confirm our broadcast plans for the series' return for an 'unbroken run.' This
announcement was done in good faith and to try and communicate to the many people who wanted to
know what was happening following the Christmas break.
Unfortunately, owing to changes in the US broadcast pattern, we are constantly having to review
our schedule plans.
We made the previous announcement using intelligence from the US as we wanted to provide Glee
fans with some assurances around the series' return. Sadly, the latest scheduling news from the
U.S. came too late for us to delay the March 1 broadcast of the new episodes further and guarantee
the unbroken run.
We will endeavour to play the new series as close to the US as possible, but the US schedules
are subject to change. We will now be forced to have a break in our transmission on Thursday 5
April, but from April 12 through to the season finale in May we will be just two days behind the
US.
Original message about Glee scheduling
We will always try our very best to listen to what our customers tell us. We had originally felt
that we were best serving our customers by delivering them brand new GLEE within days of the
American broadcast. However, taking into account customer feedback from that autumn launch, it’s
quite clear that the majority of our viewers are finding it harder to find the new episodes. Whilst
American audiences are familiar with the broken transmission patterns of their favourite shows -
owing to baseball and other major sporting events – it’s not something we’re accustomed to here in
the UK. Therefore, we’ve taken the decision to ensure that when GLEE returns in the Spring it will
do so with an unbroken run of 12 episodes – and the GLEEks (ourselves included) can rest assured
that we will be broadcasting the final episodes of Season 3 within days of the US transmission.
