1. Before you start, check that both your broadband router power light and internet light
are on.
2. Set up the Sky Wireless Connector
Using your Ethernet cable, plug one end into the Ethernet port on the back of the Sky+HD box and
the other end into the Ethernet port on your Sky Wireless Connector. If inserted correctly, it will
click into place.
Plug one end of the power adaptor cable into the power socket of your Sky Wireless Connector and
the other end into a wall socket. Switch the wall socket on before turning on your Sky Wireless
Connector using the power button at the back.
3. Check the Ethernet light is showing on the Sky Wireless Connector
4. Connect to your wireless network
An on screen message should pop up. Press
select and then choose your wireless network from the list available. Enter your
network password using your Sky remote control. The most popular wireless security schemes use
network passwords that are case sensitive, so take care entering any letters to use upper case or
lower case as needed. You can cycle through upper case letters, lower case letters and numbers by
repeated pressing of the number buttons on your Sky remote control.
Depending on your broadband provider, your wireless router network name and password are
normally printed on underside of the broadband router, unless you’ve changed it manually.
If you are unable to locate your password on the broadband router, check any documentation that
came with your router. If your broadband router was supplied by another broadband provider (not
Sky) you will need to contact them directly for further assistance.
5. Completing your set up
"Connecting to Network – please wait" displays on screen. Once you’ve connected, you’ll see a
confirmation message on screen. Follow the instructions to save the changes made. If the Local
Connection and Service Connection display as failed, check you’ve entered the network and password
correctly. To check you’re fully set up with Sky Anytime+, press the
tv guide button on your remote control, then the
red button to enter the Sky Anytime+ menu. You should see pictures of the
programmes available rather than a list of shows.
Having issues?
Broadband router power light not lit
1. Check that the power cable is firmly inserted into the router power socket.
2. Check that the power cable is plugged into a wall socket that is switched on.
3. If you have a black Sky Broadband Router you’ll need to ensure the power button is turned
on.
Internet light notlit on the front panel of the router
1. Check for a dial tone on your home phone. If you can’t hear one, make sure that the phone is
plugged into a phone socket. If there is still no dial tone, you’ll need to contact your phone
service provider.
2. If you have a dial tone, check the ADSL phone cable in broadband router is firmly pushed in
and the other end is properly inserted into the microfilter.
3. Then check that the microfilter is properly connected to your phone socket.
Power light not showing on the Sky Wireless Connector
1. Check that power cable is firmly inserted into the wireless connector power socket.
2. Check that the wireless connector power button is pushed in and on.
3. Check that the power supply for the wireless connector is plugged into a wall socket and that
the wall socket is switched on.
4. Check the wall socket is working by trying another electrical appliance.
If the wall socket is working, the power cables are connected properly but there is still no
power light showing, then the Wireless Connector may be defective and needs to be
replaced.
Ethernet light not lit on your Sky Wireless Connector:
1. Check that the Ethernet cable is firmly inserted into Wireless Connector and Sky+HD box
Ethernet ports (making sure that the Sky+HD box is switched on).
2. If the light’s still not showing, it’s possible to test the Ethernet cable. Unplug it from
the Sky+HD box and the Wireless Connector and insert the two cable ends into two spare Ethernet
ports.
3. If the lights are showing on both of the Ethernet ports that the cable is plugged into, the
cable is working. In this case, the problem may lie with the Sky+HD Ethernet port. If the lights
are not showing on both Ethernet ports that the cable is plugged into, the cable is faulty and will
need replacing.
4. If the cable is within the warranty period (12 months from purchase) and supplied by Sky it
will be replaced with no charge. If not, you can replace it by purchasing another length of Cat5
Ethernet cable, with suitable RJ45 connectors. These are available, as complete cables with
connectors already fitted.

While on this network settings screen, check the Signal Strength indicator. If the Signal
Strength on the Network settings screen is very low, there are some things that can be tried to
improve it:
Make sure any sources of interference are removed, either by moving them or your router. These
may include cordless telephones, fax machines, microwaves, mobile phones, central heating and
anything that is wireless such as doorbells, motion sensors etc.
- Adjust the box location to avoid physical objects that block signals, particularly metal or
water-based materials.
- Put the broadband router higher up on a shelf and away from other electrical appliances. Keep
it away from large amounts of water such as fish tanks and water coolers.
- Avoid placing the wireless router near windows as factors outside may interfere with the
signal.
- Change the wireless channel on the router to avoid interference from a neighbour’s
networks.
- If you cannot connect to your home network consider trying different security schemes by
reconfiguring your router using instructions provided by your ISP.
- The Sky Wireless Connector supports wireless standards 802.11b and 802.11g. If you have an
802.11n router, make sure it is working in b/g/n mode to ensure it is compatible with the Sky
Wireless Connector.
