Help with viewing Sky 3D

  • If you are a Sky World Customer with the HD pack and a 3D ready TV, you need to activate the Sky 3D channel before you can watch it. To activate Sky 3D online, got to Get Sky 3D and look under 'Already a Sky customer?' for the activation link.

Look for the Sky 3D Channel under the Entertainment and HD genres in Sky Guide, or turn to channel 217.

    1. Press the 3D button on your TV set or TV remote (not your Sky remote).
    2. Select the Side by Side 3D format.
    3. Put your 3D glasses on.
    4. If you have an "Active" 3D TV ensure your shutter glasses are turned on.

Remember to switch your TV back to normal mode when you are not watching the Sky 3D channel. Leaving your TV in 3D mode when you watch other channels will result in a distorted image.

    • Problems viewing your planner

Sky is working on making the 3D Planner compatible with all of our Sky+HD boxes. Unfortunately not all of them are currently enabled so if you can’t see it properly in 3D mode, please go back into 2D mode to use your Planner and then return to 3D mode to watch Sky 3D.

    • Where to sit for best results

We recommend you sit approximately 2.5 times the size of your TV away from the screen. So, if you have a 50 inch TV, for instance, we recommend you sit 125 inches from the screen. For the best visual experience, you should sit with your TV screen at eye level - looking up at a wall-mounted screen, or viewing from above or the side may not give you the best 3D picture.

    • Surround sound system recommendations

Sky 3D is available in Dolby 5.1 on all long-form programmes. If you already have a cinema system in use with your Sky+HD box, you shouldn’t need to make any changes.

    • Connection recommendations

Your Sky+HD box connects to a 3D TV using an HDMI cable. Use the standard cable received with your Sky+HD box or one purchased from a retailer.
