What to do if you want to query your bill

  • If the amount showing on your bill is not what you expected, this could be due to changes in the period your bill covers, or one-off charges. If your first bill is higher than you expected, this could be because it includes your first full month as well as the period between your first billing period and the day you joined Sky. If you've been with Sky for some time and your latest bill is higher than previous ones have been, this may be because an offer has come to an end, or because of Sky Talk call charges. More information is included in the relevant help sections lower on this page.

  • Is your first bill higher than expected?

The first bill you receive after joining Sky may be for more than the monthly price you signed up for. This is because it covers the period between when you signed up and the start of the first full month of your subscription - the exact period covered will depend on when you joined Sky and we received your contract.

Once your Sky has been installed, your account becomes active and the day of the month when this happens becomes your payment due date. If Sky is installed and activated on the 14th, for example, your billing period going forward will be from the 14th of one month to the 13th of the following month.

Your first bill may also contain one-off charges, such as set-up fees.

  • Is your regular bill higher than expected?

If your regular bill appears to be too high, check items that vary from month to month, such as your Sky Talk itemised calls list. If you see numbers listed on your Sky Talk bill that you don’t recognise, see our Unrecognised calls or numbers appearing on a Sky Talk itemised bill article.

Making changes to your subscription (adding or removing channels or products) can affect your regular bill, and the changes may not show immediately after you've made the change.

If you choose to change the day of the month on which you pay your regular Sky bill, this can affect the total of the statement you see following that change. Our Changing your payment due date article explains this in more detail.

  • Has a special offer come to an end?

View historic bills There could have been a special offer applied to your regular subscription charges that has now come to an end, especially if you recently joined Sky or changed package. You could check to see whether a discount was included in your earlier bills. Sign into My Sky, select View my account in the My Account section, then select the View my bill option, you will see links to previous bills.

  • Have you checked your call costs with our Sky Talk charts?

    Sky Talk charts

To make your Sky Talk bill clearer, we have added pie charts showing the breakdown of calls in your billing period, so you can see how many calls to certain types of telephone number (mobiles, landlines, higher rate call lines) you are making, and how much of each type contributes to the total of your bill. You can also view a bar graph with a daily breakdown of your call costs.

When you view your online bill, select Itemised call charges to see a traditional list of calls, duration and costs, or Graphs to see the charts. If you move your pointer over the charts, you'll see exact amounts of calls and costs.
