Moving home with Sky TV and Sky Talk

  • If you have Sky TV and Sky Talk, you can use our online tool to arrange your move. Check out what information we'll need so you can find out anything you are unsure of beforehand.

      

    Moving your Sky TV

     
    1. A qualified Sky engineer can install your Sky TV for free, including:

      • Your Sky TV system installed by an expert.
      • The engineer will ensure that the system is in good working order and if required, we will replace any cabling/parts.
      • All work completed is covered by a 90-day warranty.
      • If you’re thinking of upgrading your box, this is an ideal time to do so.

      You can install your Sky box yourself if you have a dish already installed in your new property and the previous owners had the same cable type as you (Standard Sky boxes have a single-feed cable to the dish while Sky+ and Sky+ HD boxes have dual-feed cables). If you have different cable types, you will need a Sky engineer to install your Sky system. If you have Multiroom, you'll have to ensure that it's already set up in the rooms you wish to watch Sky in.
    2. We don't recommend booking your installation for the same day as your move, in case there is a delay getting into the property.
    3. The Sky engineer will require a phone line to be active at your new address, so make sure that you have arranged for your phone services to be activated there before your Sky TV engineer comes to install Sky TV in your new home.

    If you are not going to be available on the day and time you've booked your engineer visit, please try to let us know. We will arrange another appointment as soon as we have an engineer available.

      

    Moving your Sky Talk

     

    1. To move your Sky Talk you need to make sure that you have a BT-compatible phone line at your new property. You can find this out by calling BT and advising them of your move, make sure that you tell them that you want to take your Sky Talk with you.
    2. Your Sky Talk package will remain active throughout the moving process and you will continue to pay Sky for any calls you make, according to your Sky Talk package.


     

    a) What do I do if BT tell me that there is no BT-compatible line in my new home? 

    You will need to get a BT-compatible phone line installed; the provider should be able to install a brand new line for you, however if you would rather have your line rental through Sky, we can provide the phone installation for you. When you have had your new BT line active for five working days, call us to arrange Sky Talk Calls at your new home. Please note, you should only order Line Rental with the Unlimited Weekend plan from BT if you intend to remain with Sky Talk, if you select a chargeable calls package from BT you may be subject to a contract with BT and minimum terms.

    b) How long will it take for my BT line to become active?

    It usually takes 14 days for your line to become active with BT. Then, after you order Sky Talk, another 14 days for Sky Talk to become active. During the time between your line and Sky Talk going active, you will pay BT for any telephone calls that you make on their call package.

    c) Can I rearrange my engineer visits?  

    If you are not going to be available on the day and time you've booked your engineer visit for Sky TV or Sky Talk installation, please try to let us know. We will arrange another appointment as soon as we have an engineer available.

    d) When are the telephone engineers available?  

    Sky's telephone engineers can come on any week day apart from bank holidays, so it should be easy to find an appointment that suits you.

    e) When you move, make sure you take all your existing equipment to your new address:  

    • Sky boxes
    • Viewing cards
    • Sky remote controls
    • SCART leads / HDMI cables
    • tvLINK (where appropriate)
