Sky Broadband Product Information

  • You can now have Sky Broadband with inclusive evening & weekend UK calls without taking Sky TV when you take Sky Line Rental. You'll have access to Sky Broadband Everyday Lite, or Sky Broadband Unlimited in Sky Broadband network areas, or Sky Broadband Connect elsewhere.* Visit our Shop pages for more information.

    • How long will it take for my line to go active?

Once you have ordered Sky Broadband it will normally take up to 15 days for your broadband to go active. We'll send you a letter (or, if you have provided us with an email address, an email) to welcome you to Sky Broadband, followed confirmation of your line activation date. Your Sky wireless router will be delivered and you can get started.

    • How can I find out if I can get Sky Broadband?

If you have a BT-compatible phone line, enter your BT or Sky Talk telephone number on our Landline Checker.

If you don't have a BT-compatible phone line (if, for example, you are currently using Virgin or another cable service), enter your postcode in our online Postcode Checker.

    • Can I use Sky Broadband for my business?

No, Sky Broadband is for residential use only.

    • Can I use my phone, fax or other machines while connected to the internet?

Yes, you'll still be able to make calls while using Sky Broadband. To make sure that other devices do not interfere with your internet connection, we advise that you use a microfilter on every phone socket that is in use in your home. We provide two microfilters with each Sky Broadband router, and you can order more by calling Sky Customer Services.

      It covers:

    • When will I be billed?

For Sky Broadband packages that charge a monthly fee, payments are automatically taken at the same time as Sky TV subscription payments.

    • Do I pay telephone call charges for using Sky Broadband?

No, Sky's internet service is broadband, not dial-up and no call charges apply.

    • Do any restrictions apply to the service?

To ensure we provide a sustainable quality broadband service to our customers, we continuously monitor and efficiently manage the Sky Network as a whole. To do this, during peak times (from 5pm to 12am each day), we may slow down the speed that all Sky Broadband Connect customers can get on applications such as peer-to-peer networking and newsgroups, which we consider use up a lot of bandwidth and have a negative affect on other customers.

There are no restrictions in place for applications such as browsing, email, streaming, instant messaging and VOIP during peak times. We do not put restrictions on our Connect network outside of peak times. There are no restrictions whatsoever at any time for those customers who have Sky Broadband Everyday Lite or Sky Broadband Unlimited.
