Pay Per View Help

  • Sky Box Office screenYou can easily order the latest Sky Box Office sports events and movies and by pressing box office on your Sky remote. It is also possible to book some major Sky Box Office sports events online.

If you order a Box Office movie or event using your remote control on your Sky+HD box or Sky+ box, you can choose to see a reminder when the programme starts, or to record it. If you order on your SkyHD box or standard Sky box, a reminder is added to your planner.

Please remember that if you book sports events online, a reminder is not added to your planner and you will not be able to record the event.

Charges for Sky Movies Box Office will appear on the next Sky bill we issue after you've ordered and watched the content.

    • What to do if you cannot order using your remote control

If your Sky box is not connected to a working telephone line, you will not be able to order Box Office events using your remote control.  You can order some major sport pay per view events online. See the next FAQ for information on how to do this.

For Sky Movies Box Office events you can still order by calling Sky on 08442 410 888. If you book a movie or event over the telephone, rather than using your Sky remote, this incurs a £1 administration charge, billed automatically along with your next month's subscription.

    • How do I book a PPV event online?

Booking a pay per view event online means you can have the peace of mind of booking the event well in advance. When you book Box Office events using your remote control, this can only be done seven days in advance.

Please remember that if you’re booking at the last minute, booking online and booking through the box are the best ways to order major pay per view sports events as the contact centres may be very busy.

To purchase a Box Office event online you will need a Sky iD linked to your Sky account. Sky iD is the single username and password that gives you access to the online world of Sky including managing your account online and watching Sky TV on your computer. You can register and sign in to Sky iD on the Box Office order page.

After signing into Sky iD on the Box Office order page.

      • If you have Sky Multiroom, choose the viewing card number for the box where the event will be viewed (if you don’t have Sky Multiroom , ignore this step)

      • Then, click ‘Confirm booking’

It’s that easy. Please remember that if you book sports events online, a reminder is not added to your planner and you will not be able to record the event.

    • What happens if I don't watch, or don't finish watching, a programme?

Pay Per View recordings are automatically deleted from the planner 24 hours after you start viewing them, even if you haven't watched the whole recording - the keep (blue button) function will not work on Pay Per View recordings.

If you are using a SkyHD box or white Sky digibox and you don’t watch the programme at the time you originally ordered it for, it will be removed from your planner. If the movie or sports event is repeated in the schedule, however, you can still watch it. Supposing you booked a film starting at 8pm on Tuesday, for example, but missed it. If you find another showing in your TV Guide, your booking will be carried over. If the same film appears in the listings for Wednesday night, for example, just select it normally and you will see a message telling you it’s already ordered. Press select to continue when prompted and a new reminder for the later showing will be added to your planner.

If you booked a Sky Box Office event online or through the Sky Contact Centre, but don't watch the event while it is live, you will still be able to access repeats of the event. Please remember that this event will not go into your planner.

    • How are pay per view movies and events billed?

Charges for movies or events are automatically billed alongside your normal monthly subscription. If the change is made before 14 days of your payment due date, it will appear on your next bill.

If these charges are applied to your account within 14 days of your payment due date, these will appear on the bill after next and will show as owing from that month. You can sign in to My Sky to view your online bill at any time.

    • What to do if you've forgotten your viewing card PIN

When you order Sky Box Office events, you may be asked for your viewing card PIN. If you cannot remember this, see our help guide:

    • When can I watch my film or event?

If the programme's just starting, you can order and view right away. If there are multiple showings, you may be able to choose what time you watch the programme. If the programme's showing some time after you place your order, you can set a reminder to appear on your TV screen before the show starts (or a Sky+ recording if you booked using your remote control). If you are using a standard Sky box, make sure you don't miss the start, as if you watch any part of the event you will be charged for the whole programme or film.

    • Watching recorded Sky Movies Box Office programmes

Recording Sky Movies Box Office content is a bit like hiring a DVD - without leaving home! The programme is stored in your Planner for a fixed amount of time (usually 24 hours, but it can vary depending on the programme you've chosen) and then it's automatically deleted. You can watch a recorded programme as many times as you like within that period, just as if you'd rented a DVD or tape. To check how long you have left to watch a recording, highlight it in your Planner and press i (information). Stopping, pausing or re-starting content will not extend the time limits for viewing that content.

Also remember that if you have booked online, the programme will not appear in your planner, but you will be to watch all of the repeats of the programme.

    • Cancelling a booking

If you make a mistake whilst booking a movie or event using your Sky remote control, press back up to go back a step. If you have completed your order using your Sky remote control, don't watch the event or delete it from your planner unviewed, and you will not be charged.

If you placed your order over the phone, call Sky Customer Services on 08442 414141 to cancel your order. We are unable to check whether Pay Per View programmes ordered over the telephone have been viewed or not, so you will be charged if you do not call us before the event is shown, even if you don't watch the movie or event. If you have booked a Sky Box Office event online, please use the same process to cancel your booking.
